Curiosity in Rising - The Final Episodes
[BCM206 & BCM302 PITCH]
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the entire world was forced to take a look at themselves, find quiet in the chaos, and reflect. For myself, and many others, this involved reassessing spiritual beliefs and focusing on the type of person I wanted to be. Platforms like Tiktok and Instagram saw an explosion in spiritual content. Likewise podcasts saw peak numbers in downloads and streams, as the global population found themselves with more time and needing inspiration - or perhaps just a new voice to listen to. During my first year of University in 2022, I was tasked with creating a digital artefact, so it seemed a great idea to create a podcast series which focused on lifestyle and spirituality topics, thus Curiosity in Rising was born.
For BCM302 and BCM206, my final subjects in the Digital and Social Media major, I’ll wrap up Curiosity in Rising, I'll tie up loose ends, feature new and returning guests, and market these episodes as the series finale. I’ll create social media content and develop a brand persona online, tying into my other major in marketing advertising communications. This will enhance my portfolio as I start to wrap up my university journey and prepare for employment. As occurred with previous episodes, I will record in Building 29 on campus and publish episodes fortnightly, beginning halfway through this semester. Curiosity in Rising’s instagram will also be very active, with audio-visual content being edited now.
Curiosity in Rising promotes open-mindedness and provides social utility by addressing key social issues through diverse topics. It has fostered listeners' curiosity and acceptance of diverse perspectives, while also addressing significant issues such as LGBTQ+ rights, modern online dating, fashion journalism and promoting inclusivity and understanding in society.
